Public Liability
Unfortunately Australia is a very litigious society, the propensity for aggrieved parties to sue is very high and as child care owners and operators you need to be fully aware of your responsibilities in this area.
"Non" child care activities
From time to time a centre may hold a fundraising activity or event to promote the centre.
Occupiers' Liability:
Legal liability can attach to owners and/or occupiers of premises on which a person is injured. In essence, the occupation of premises gives rise to a legal duty of care being owed to entrants to the premises and requires that reasonable steps be taken to ensure each entrant's safety.
Volunteer Workers
Volunteers are an integral part of our society and the work undertaken by them is worth billions of dollars to the Australian community each year.
Committees and Directors
Volunteer committees make up a large proportion of child care and other preschool activities.
The problem:
It is important that members of the committee are aware of their legal obligations when standing on the committee.
