Your Centre
The location of many centres in residential areas unfortunately makes them vulnerable to the risk of break and enter, and vandalism or malicious damage. In most cases, alarm systems are local alarms only and therefore the reliance on neighbours and the general public is high. We will consider a number of alternatives that can be implemented by your centre to reduce its vulnerability, many of which require little in the way of additional capital and are basically common sense in approach.

External Security Measures

This area is often overlooked as most people focus internally when reviewing potential exposure. Time is your most effective weapon in loss prevention. The longer it takes for an offender to get into your centre the more likely you are to be successful in preventing crime. Accordingly, loss prevention begins outside your centre.
Internal Security Measures

The main point to remember is that once an offender is inside, the offence has already been committed, and you are likely to suffer a loss or serious damage. The extent of loss depends on the measures you have in place. In some instances child care operators do not consider themselves vulnerable - why would a person want to break-in?
Building Protection
Our statistics reveal that at least one child care centre will be destroyed by fire each year. In addition to the heartache of potentially losing your business (43% of companies experiencing major loss never reopen, while a further 29% close within two years following a major loss), the impact on the community and children attending the centre can be devastating.
